Description
Hiking Dirfis Xerovouni Central EviaGreece
January 7 (for any other date, please contact us)
A beautiful hike in the lush natural environment of central Evia!
Its highest peak, Portaris, has an altitude of 1,453 m. The vegetation of the mountain consists mainly of pines and firs and secondarily of beech and chestnut forests.
Directly opposite dominates the majestic Dirfys. Dirfi or Dirfys is one of the most beautiful mountains and rich in vegetation in the center of Evia. The main peak of Dirfi, Delphi has an altitude of 1,743 meters and is clearly visible from afar. It is wild and steep and, with the exception of the mountains of Crete, it is the highest mountain in island Greece. In ancient times, Delphi is said to have had a temple of Hera Dyrphya, commemorating her marriage to Zeus, which had taken place there. The mountain Dirfi was dedicated to her, that's why she was called "Dirfya or Heavenly Hera".
