Some of the activities you can do near the area of Rethymnon are paragliding, motorized paragliding (paratrike), hiking, buggy, 4x4 off road safari and sea kayaking. In Gerogioupoli  there are horse rides, 4x4 safari, Almyrida there are beaches for surf and sup, diving, boat trips, sea kayaking and sailing.
If you want to go out during the night for a drink you should visit Almyrida, Kalyves and the old town of Chania.

A unique peaceful village, viewing the White Mountains, surrounded by vineyards, carob trees and olive groves. With small narrow streets and most of the buildings dated back to the 1885. A place where you can still witness, the true rural way of Cretan life and be part of it.
