The excursion starts from the meeting point in Patras at the time to be agreed with your tour guide. Driving to the Harilaou Trikoupi Rio-Antirio Bridge, which is the longest suspension bridge in world with a length of 2,252 meters and its foundations are at the bottom of the sea at a depth of 65 meters. Own suspension bridge world record and with a 90 meter diameter foundation they hold the world's first place in size of pillar foundations. You will have the opportunity to take pictures for a few minutes at the stop we do there and then continue to the capital of the prefecture of Etoloakarnania, the historical Mesolongi.
Messolonghi is a beautiful, small but historically important town famous for its sea lake it is formed by the ends of two rivers and is considered one of the most pristine areas of Greece. I will we visit Lake Messolonghi, which has been designated a National Park by the Ramsar Convention and the Treaty Natura 2000. It is a place of exceptional beauty and ecological value, with rare flora and protected fauna. Over 280 species of birds find refuge there and are strictly protected. THE view from the lake to the island of Kleisova with its chapel is amazing. We will also see the graphics "Pelades" which are small wooden houses built on wooden poles over the water. We will continue to the islet of Tourlid, which takes its name from the turlids, a species of birds that endemic to the area.
On the way there we will see another place for which Messolonghi is important for Greece, the Alykes of Messolonghi. One of the main ingredients in cooking is salt! So 90% of it is produced there quantity of salt and distributed in Greece. You will have the opportunity to visit the Salt Museum where you will see amazing salt crystals and understand why salt is called "white treasure"! At our next stop you will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the only visitable production unit roe in Greece. Roe is a seafood delicacy that is also used as an ingredient for cooking but also as a raw delicacy like caviar. You will attend a 30-minute guided tour route of roe production and then you will taste this exquisite delicacy in one specialized buffet accompanied by traditional ouzo, at the end of your tour. Don't miss her chance to taste this wonderful natural ingredient in its freshest version directly from the production!
Our last stop will be the picturesque and historical city of Nafpaktos, with a unique history of 30 centuries which is reflected in the historical monuments of the city. Nafpaktos is built on one of its foothills Mount Pindos, embraced by the majestic Venetian-built castle, whose walls they end up in the magnificent port of the city in the Gulf of Corinth. You will have time to admire the view from the top of the castle as well as walk around the neighborhoods in the port city and capture great memories with your cameras! At the end of this tour you will have seen some of the historical and rare beauty sights and you will have taste one of the most refined and special delicacies offered by the Greek Sea!
