Rafting in river Arachthos, Ioannina,Tzoumerka, Epirus, Greece
The most famous and breath taking river for your most exciting white water reacting adventure. Many of adventure seekers from all over the world visit Arachthos river in Greece!
We begin our ride from the impressive Plaka Bridge, a stunning 20-meter-high, 40-meter-wide single-arch stone structure— the largest of its kind in the Balkans. After getting ourselves fully equipped with specialized rafting equipment we set off downstream. No prior rafting experience is required for this exhilarating journey, which takes us through waters rated at a challenging Class III WW difficulty level, inviting us to marvel at the vibrant reflections.
As we paddle through the river, we are immersed in the awe-inspiring beauty of the surroundings. The canyon walls rise up to 700 meters, adding to the dramatic landscape and offering breathtaking views of the Arachthos Gorge and its crystal-clear waters. In winter, the waterfall is full and roaring, but by summer, some areas of the riverbed are barely covered with water, and certain spots can even run dry. After a thrilling 9-kilometer descent, the rafting journey concludes at the Tzari area.
After the end of the activity, we return back again with our buses, which is located just a few meters past the Plaka Bridge, with friendly staff offering traditional syrupy sweets, refreshing water, changing rooms, and washing facilities.
